Admissions
The local authority (City of Wolverhampton Council) is the admitting authority which can offer a place at Dovecotes Primary school. The Headteacher and staff are always happy to show families around our school but the official offer of a place remains with the Council.
Every local authority maintained school has a pupil admission number (PAN) which sets a limit to how many children the school is obliged to admit into its reception class each year. It is often used as a broad indicator of year group size for other year groups. Currently at Dovecotes Primary school our PAN is 45 for reception through to year 6. The PAN is calculated by the local authority using a formula which takes into account the floor area and number of classrooms.
Children are admitted to nursery from the list of applicants, strictly in age order after their third birthday and as places are available. Our morning nursery class accepts 26 children and our afternoon nursery class accepts 26 children.
