About Our School
Dovecotes opened in 1978 as a separate infant school and junior school. The two schools amalgamated in 1995 to form Dovecotes Primary School. We are a one and a half form entry school for children aged 2-11, which includes 30-hour nursery provision. Dovecotes Primary has many pupils from a range of ethnic backgrounds and we celebrate the diversity of cultures within our school. We primarily serve children from the Dovecotes Estate but we do regularly take pupils from outside the catchment area resulting in high pupil mobility: as an undersubscribed school, pupils often arrive at Dovecotes whilst they wait for their first-choice school to become available.
Pupils are arranged in classes staffed by both teachers and teaching assistants. Both the Key stage 1 and Key Stage 2 areas are open plan in their organisation with shared areas and additional classrooms to support group work.
Location-wise, we are based at the heart of the Dovecotes estate, near to a large secondary school on the outskirts of Wolverhampton in close proximity to the South Staffordshire border. We benefit from extensive grounds including courtyards, a meadow, a large playing field, playgrounds, spacious halls, a library and sensory and nurture rooms.
We take pride in our school which is an extremely nurturing and inclusive environment. We teach our pupils that in a world where you can be anything, be kind and our school rules reflect this: Kind Hands. Kind Feet. Kind Words.
